Hey all,

I said I'd keep everyone posted, so here goes:

Karmann is the new name of the server, see:

It's been fitted with 2 new SCSI UW320 10K drives. They're only 35 gig
a peice, but I think that's more than enough for our needs. The box
itself (after much futzing) has been installed with SuSE 9.1 in a
minimum install (plus a couple of the things I know we'll want).
Since the local store didn't have any low-profile SCSI controllers in
stock, I've setup software RAID 1 on the box with reiserfs. If the
case had space for 3 HDs, I would probably try harder to get hardware
RAID 5 in place, but as it stands, I don't see a real advantage when
there might be the potential for new hardware from other sources

Joyce has lined up hosting for us gratis, for which I'm very grateful.
Once I know what the IP/DNS situation looks like at our new hosting
facility, I'll be able to get the configuration locked away and set a
date to have the box up and running.

Until then, thanks again to everyone that gave me advice while this
has been going on.
